The alley was damp from the evening rain, puddles reflecting the neon signs above the surrounding shops. John pulled his leather jacket tighter against the chill as he crept along behind the broad-shouldered figure ahead. He had been tracking Marco for weeks, waiting for the right moment.

Marco suddenly paused, sensing something behind him. As he started to turn, John launched himself forward, the rough cloth of his jeans swishing as he closed the distance in two quick strides. His fist connected with a thick smack against Marco’s jaw before his target could react. Marco stumbled back, colliding with a pile of trash bags that let out a crinkling thud as he fell. He looked up with hazy eyes as John loomed over him.

“You’ve caused too much pain,” John said through gritted teeth as he drew back a clenched fist. “Now it’s your turn.”

With a sickening crack, his knuckles smashed into Marco’s nose, blood spattering the damp concrete. Marco groaned, trying to rise, but John kicked him viciously in the side, his boot thumping against Marco’s ribs. John reached down and grabbed Marco’s shirt, hauling him up and slamming him against the alley wall.

“Please…” Marco choked out before John silenced him with a quick slap across the face, the sound echoing down the narrow passage. John pulled back his fist one more time, eyes blazing. This was the moment he had been waiting for.

About the Sounds

Our most recent post was jam-packed with explosion and destruction sounds as our recordists searched for ways to smash and blow things up and further design them in the studio. With combat being the focus of this week’s upload, they were undoubtedly unable to unwind at all.

Included in this latest upload is a massive installation of Foley for all your fight scenes. Typically recording fight sounds does not involve actual fighting. Rather the complex sounds are broken into parts: materials whooshing and things from lettuce to raw meat getting whacked, hit, broken, and stabbed. Layering them together for a convincing series of actions can be a time-consuming process that takes a lot of skill and patience. We’ve done much of the hard stuff for you, as these are ready to drop and go, though we also included many of the constituent sounds as well.

The new combat stock FX update features a variety of cloth sounds including leather, raincoats, sports bags, towels, and jeans. It has an extensive collection of punches, kicks, slaps, and smacks on these different materials, from light taps to forceful pounds. There are also many designed punch and kick effects in different styles and intensities, ranging from retro-sounding, cartoony hits to gory and bone-crunching impacts. Finally, there are sounds of bodies falling, colliding with the ground or other surfaces. The sounds are delivered in multiple formats and are expertly recorded and designed for maximum realism and flexibility.

What the sounds can be used for

These cloth, punch, slap, kick, and fall sound effects have a wide variety of applications. Filmmakers can use them to drag and drop into fight scenes to add visceral impact to action sequences without worrying about the sound design. Video game designers, too, can integrate the sounds into combat systems, cutscenes, and quicktime events. Multimedia producers can mix and match the effects to craft unique soundscapes where everyone’s doing some kung fu fighting as fast as lightning.

Fashion or sports vlogs and podcasts can use the cloth sounds to make apparel come alive, especially when it comes to flashy, clothing-based transitions. The retro punch/kick effects work well for parody videos or as part of a throwback soundtrack, or adding comedy to a slapstick fight. From enhancing virtual reality experiences to providing audio feedback in apps and simulations, this FX collection offers unlimited options for sound designers across media looking for high-quality, flexible material.

This new upload is an adaptable library of sounds that may help you realize your creative idea in any medium. So why wait? Join now and unleash your inner content creator!
