Outrun is all about fast paced racing-themed music influenced by the old Outrun video game from 1986. Kavinsky almost single handedly created the Outrun template as the very first synthwave style, eventually naming his first album in 2013 Outrun. In a nutshell, it’s fast cars, neon, palm trees, Miami + L.A., night drives, and sunsets. It’s instrumental 4 on the floor action with cop chases, drug busts, and damsels in distress. It’s the oldest style of synthwave and one of the easiest to find in the community. Influences include Drive & Miami Vice.
